About Us

Purpose

The Clinical Training Center for Family Planning provides training for clinical family planning preceptors. Clinical family planning preceptors ensure that direct care providers in Title X settings apply the most current knowledge and skills necessary for effective delivery of high quality family planning services.

Goal

The goal of the CTCFP is to prepare clinical preceptors to provide education, mentoring and skills assessment of clinical family planning providers.

Objectives

Train and support 200 expert clinical preceptors through a competency-based, standardized curriculum.

Maximize the performance potential of Title X clinicians through access to expert clinical precepting and specialized training.

Create local, regional and national interdisciplinary networks that interact and learn from each other.

Optimize care in family planning settings by applying evidence-based knowledge and skills to facilitate positive client outcomes.

Advisory Committees

The Curriculum Advisory Committee provides input and feedback on the development and maintenance of the curriculum.

The Training Operations Advisory Committee is responsible for ensuring smooth and accessible training opportunities for all regions.

The National Clinical Training Conference Planning Committee is working to develop a national training forum in 2008 and 2010.

Continuing Education: Preceptor Training

Development Systems, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the Missouri Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity is approved for a maximum of 18 contact hours. Continuing education credit will be prorated according to documented attendance.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of ABcomm, Inc. and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing. ABcomm, Inc. is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
